Tyler Gregory Okonma (born March 6, 1991), better known as Tyler, The Creator, is a rapper, singer, record producer, video director, stylist, TV writer, and actor from California. He first received major recognition in the hip-hop community in the early 2010s as a founding member of the now-dissolved rap collective, Odd Future. In school, he was kicked out of drama class because he was too hyperactive, and he was kicked out of band class because he couldn’t read music, but he went on to learn 3 instruments. Known for his explosive personality and absurdist lyrical content, Tyler released his debut mixtape, Bastard on December 25, 2009. Tyler also went viral on the famous short-form video platform Vine after he released his debut mixtape. He created a famous meme called the “Sike!” meme. Subsequently, Tyler released his major debut album, Goblin, on May 10, 2011, under XL Recordings, in which Tyler talks about very controversial topics coupled with aggressive instrumentals.
